My daughter is in the IB program at George...She and all her friends were excited about today. To have people that are in the public eye come to any kids school is exciting. AND especially for a DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOL, which gets a bad wrap all the way around. Oh and for your info, it DID NOT SUCK HARD. all of the kids had a blast!!

Agreed: the movie isn't for everyone. But it has a powerful message, amazing scenery, great music, and the kind of realism about an extreme athlete's life that you rarely see on film. I posted my review, after a screening I attended in Boulder. Yes, one person passed out. The rest of us were floored only figuratively by this gripping story.

I understand what he had to do to survive took a ton of intestinal fortitude and would be pretty graphic as depicted on film, but seriously.... medical attention needed in the audience? These people obviously haven't been desensitized enough with violent movies like the Devil's Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Rambo, etc. A single amputation scene can't possibly be as bad as many, many other movies with dismemberments.

One of the movies from my life that had this affect on a lot of people is Saving Private Ryan. I have never seen so many grown men cry (i worked at a movie theater at the time). Apparently it was the closest thing to how it really was that had ever been depicted in film. Great blog!

I love Chris Parente! Never knew he was gay; obviously he's out but I didn't know, guess I never noticed, if they mentioned it. It's good for gay youngsters to see a positive gay media figure out there. I just like that he's goofy, but in a genuinely goofy way, not like he's TRYING to be the "goofy news guy". You get the feeling he's like that whether on camera or not. He always makes me laugh and I'll bet he'll be a hoot w/Kelly. She's a goof too. I miss him in the mornings, tho. I like it when he's on there unexpectedly when Tom or Natalie (now Melissa) has a day off. They're all good, Angie too. I really love the Ch. 2 morning team.

has such a blatant mispelling that any third grader SHOULD have caught it - not to mention a spelling checker).

You guys are definitely in for a fun evening...not only is he funny...but he's obviously very intellegent. He's one comedian who is able to make you laugh so hard that your face will hurt without having to resort to the "F" word every other second like so many comedians. He is quick witted & able to improvise on a moments notice when the situation calls for it....and best of all....he makes everyone feel like he's your best friend.

It depends on what type of contract they have. Dancers now belong to a union. If they have a "pay or play" clause, (which they should) they will get paid whether or not the headliner makes it to the stage. If they don't, while it still screws them, this could open up the union, and agent's minds to this. What if a show, contingent on a headliner, closes due to their illness or death? Nuts and bolts businesses have contingencies built in for this type of mishap, why not showbiz?
